I took these PE subjects before: Intermediate HipHop/Modern Jazz(it's not offered anymore, too bad) Taekwondo Volleyball Dancesport(Ballroom under Ms. Belinda)
I have to say that my favorite was ballroom. haha. Ms. Belinda used to be the champion in Dancesport during the 2005 SEAgames. Super galing nya magturo and super difficult ng steps. :P
hello po! :D just wanna ask... dance sport? as in latin ballroom?! :D do they still offer that course? :D

na-feature si Ma'am Adora sa natgeo?!
Ewan. haha. Not sure kung siya yun. Pero may na-feature sa Nat Geo na Belinda yung name. She competed in ASEAN ata? Tapos ngayon, she teaches na lang daw.

I wanna take up swimming but I don't know how to swim. Is it alright if I take it up?
I also want wushu and tai chi.
I have the same problem. I wanted to take up taekwondo before, but my mom didn't approve. :) So I'll take it up as a class para wala nang palag. XD But is it really okay kahit beginner pa lang??
I'm one of the people in high school who slept through PE but aced Computer and Math subjects. HAHAHA.
@miss_veron08: My friend invited me to take up Taekwondo this summer too but seems that my family wasn't exactly happy about it. I wonder if people like me could get away with Taekwondo. It seems fun but tiring. HAHA
The PE subjects I'm taking into consideration: Fitness Walking, Taekwondo, Judo, and Fencing. No-no to dancing. I hated prom just because I had to dance. HAHAHA. I wonder if I could sign up for Recreational Activities... HAHAHA

@howlpanda: Haha.. :)) those subjects, I'm also thinking of taking one of them. XD Interested ako sa sports ngayon.. :) di ako pinapayagan talaga eh.. XD
I guess I would be taking up either wushu, fencing, swimming, or even judo..
I have a question.
What if you already knew all the strokes in swimming and you would take it as a pe subject? Would you be literally wasting your time because you know the sport already? I don't know but it might turn out to be boring. Also, is the swimming pool covered?
About wushu - Is this class the combat sport type? I heard there were two types, the one with the stances and the one involving combat.
Sorry ha, feel ko lang talaga mag englis. hahahaha. Anu pa mga interesting na pe classes? I have a 700+ random number. lol
I'm planning to take up volleyball.. How could I get into the school's varsity team or something like that? If ever, would I be able to join though I'm still a freshman? Thanks in advance!

get judo! nakakatakot sa una pero masaya talaga siya! You'll ge to throw people. hahaha!
Seconding this. Plus, Coach Ali is great! His one-liners are memorable :) He told us in our first meeting that we should refer to him as "O Great One."
It can be a bit painful, but you'll forget the pain when you start pinning people down or throwing them around. You don't need a lot of muscle power, it's all in the technique and execution.
my high school's football team was quite good and i would have loved to play the sport then kaso some kids there i didn't really like and i was *this* close to failing PE so nahiya naman ako sumali although lots of my girlfriends were on the team. haha
wait, yung soccer ba san yung classes nun, is it covered or sa initan?
oh no0o0o0o! i'm totally not much of a swing/boogie person! maybe tango's okay... but we did these dances the whole year round during my senior year! :[ i was hoping we'd have latin ballroom, as in cha-cha,rumba and jive! :[
I took these PE classes...
1st year, 1st sem: Judo -- WORTH IT. Don't be intimidated. The teacher (Sir Ali) is very nice. I didn't know what to expect with this PE but it was really fun! I'd recommend this class; the only downside is that you have to go to the Blue Eagle Gym for this class. It's quite a long walk from the college buildings, especially if you have to walk under the scorching sun. :)) I must say, though. It's totally worth it. Not just for the guys. The girls in my class loved it and OWNED it. Inter-class finals kasi e. The girls won the gold and silver medals in the tournament.
1st year, 2nd sem: Volleyball -- I was forced to take this when I ran out of slots for other PE's that I wanted. It's okay. Not much fun in my opinion.
2nd year, 1st sem: Weight Training for Men -- Mabait yung coach. Good PE, but expect to be really tired for the whole week. For finals, you have to take part in an inter-PE fun run.
2nd year, 2nd sem: Ballroom Dancing (Dancesport) -- there are two coaches to choose from, Ms. Adora and the other teacher. Ms. Adora's class (the one i took) is a dancesport class. It focuses on the competitive side of ballroom. VERY demanding. You might be overwhelmed at first if it's your first time to learn ballroom like me but it's really worth it. I found it really enjoyable once I got the hang of it. You usually get a partner. If you didn't bring one with you, you'll have to choose someone you've never met, which is what I did. Inter-class midterms and finals. Eventually, my partner and I made it quite far through the finals. Totally worth it.
The other class focuses on social dance. I'm not sure what they do there though, but it's probably less competitive.

My lazy blockmates took table tennis. Hahaha.
Hi! I'm an incoming BS MGT freshie. I included judo in my list coz of what you have said. HAHA. But i'm also kinda worried that I might fail since (if ever) that would be my first time to take it up. Is it okay to take up sports that you haven't really played before?

I took up judo last sem without any background in it and got an A. I think Coach Ali really only requires his students to show up for attendance and participate in the sparring and the finals. You'll only fail if you exceed the maximum number of cuts, and an F if you commit a forbidden move during sparring (like something that can injure the back/spine).
What you really need for judo is confidence, because you'll be throwing people around while trying not to harm them too much and preparing yourself for getting thrown too. You'll be doing rolls, maybe cartwheels, stuff like that. Don't worry, the mat's soft, especially the blue ones. :)

Hi! :) I'm an incoming ME freshie. I was just wondering if a petite and small girl like me can handle and pass Judo? I was quite interested with Judo because of the posts here. HAHA. I've already included it in my list. So, do you think I can manage that PE subject?
Ah, so basically, you just have to do your best even if you start without having a background on each class? :D:D:D
Yup. :) And if it helps, your grade in PE isn't included in the computation for QPI, so you could get a not-so-great grade and still be fine. But do try your best, it's fun learning something new. :D

Sure you can, I'm a petite girl too. :D In our finals last sem, there was this small girl who finished her matches with one single throw. Her opponents didn't even have the chance to try some moves of their own.

Cartwheels? I don't know how to do that! HAHA. =)) I'm kinda petite also, so would that be a problem? And what's exceeding the maximum number of cuts? I have no idea about that. :)

Yeah! I never had any experience in judo prior to taking it as my PE. Sir Ali will teach you everything you need to get started. Even the cartwheels. Haha. :p It's an easy A, if that'll motivate you.
I didn't know ANYTHING about dancing before, either. :p
I'm one of the people in high school who slept through PE but aced Computer and Math subjects. HAHAHA.
Same here. HAHA. You'll survive. You might find PE to be one of the better subjects during your time in college. In fact, you might end up wishing that you only had PE in college. =))

Sa initan. HAHA. If you want to take soccer, you might want to good timeslot. Yung umaga, malamig-lamig pa yung hangin.
There's also futsal, which is basically indoor football. You'll play inside the covered courts, I think.
