Was it prof. Ibarra or something? Anyhoo, I think she'd make the subject interesting. :))

I was with my sister during that lecture... :))

Ibarra was my prof in Acc10 and 30.  Yes, she is a terror.  But only because she has high expectations on the students--she told the class once that since we passed the ACET, then we can handle the pressure.

If ever Ibarra becomes your Accounting teacher, just read the book and try solving all the problems in advance.  She teaches in a fast-paced manner kasi, and she expects the entire class to have studied the lessons in advance.

But don't be scared.  Ibarra has her light moments as well, especially after a long test.  She would take at least 15 to 30 minutes to joke around and talk about interesting stuff. :D

ERM. Accounting is beyond simple, really.

Is it hard because the teachers don't teach it well or something?

Actually, accounting concepts are easy to understand. Ang mahirap lang talaga eh kapag test na, twisted lahat ng concepts tapos wala nang makaintindi.

Mas okay kasi sana kung in-depth yung pagturo eh. ;_; But anyway, isa na lang Accounting ko! Acc101 yayayayyy~

BTW for the BS ME students:

I highly recommend that you attend the MEA Prepcourse.
You would know a lot of your program-mates plus there would be a lot of upperclassmen that could give you tips. biggrin

Thank you po! :)

I would have to agree in the accounting part. Ateneo makes accounting SERIOUSLY very hard. If you get a B/C+ in accounting courses, you're already very good. Especially for the ME people who have different accounting subjects from all the SOM students, you are lucky if you get C+. That's really very high already for ME. I hope Darwin Yu pa rin kayo. HAHAHAHA.

I'ld say you'll enjoy bs mac if you're really up to chem and management.

Seriously speaking, taking bs mac is a challenge, but a challenge worth taking. :)

The ORSEM manual will probably have a list of courses with their respective retention requirements and the shifting requirements to shift into that course :D

Hey guys. I'm thinking of shifting to BS COMTECH from ABPSY.
Questions:
How do I do it?
When is the best time to do it?
Thanks. :)

Hi, if you are from BS MAC, all your NatSci courses are Chemistry classes. Although you have to take up this course called Sci10 in second year which is basically a summing up of all NatSci courses. (Am not really sure if your batch's MAC is still required to take up Sci10~ baka kasi may changes sa curriculum)

Orsem attendance: You have a subject in freshman year known as InTACT (Intro to Ateneo Culture and Tradition). It is a no-credit subject (clarify please :p) and you are graded with either an S or a U (satisfactory/unsatisfactory). There are 3 cuts (allowable absences) for Intact, and if you miss the Orsem, those cuts will be decreased for you.

Kung tama ako, if you overcut Intact, you can't enlist for NSTP (which is a government-required subject for 2nd year). You have to settle stuff etc etc so just don't miss orsem.

And the Orsem is fun anyway!!

ON ACCOUNTING: I'm an incoming ME sophomore. Mgt-H accounting is deadly indeed (Venus Ibarra). Only around 6 or 7 Mgt-H majors remain in fourth year as of now. However, ME accounting (Darwin Yu) is hard, but they say it doesn't cause students to get kicked out of the course. There are rumors though that Darwin Yu will not be handling ME accounting anymore next year.

Both are good teachers. For the case of Darwin Yu's departure, hindi ko alam kung magiging masaya ako o malungkot o.o

EDIT: sorry, i deleted the wrong post disbelief i should be deleting my comment, but i deleted another. my bad disbelief

Hello guys. :D

I managed to transfer to BS MAC from BS MIS before the school year started. I'm thankful that my request got accepted. :)) I was worried I might not have a block if I shifted after 1st year. Haha.

I just noticed not many people took this course [maybe that's why I got transferred. Dami pa kaya slots? HAHA], is it true? From the looks of it, it's a challenge huh? Wah, I'm getting more anxious about it. :|

If you mean classes in the SOM [ building ], then you don't have to worry about that just yet. You might not be stepping into the SOM building for real classes until third year.

If you mean classes of SOM courses, it really depends.

HI! my original course was actually ME, then I shifted to Mgt-H because I was really curious and heard a lot of rumors about how difficult it is. Im always up for a challenge and Mgt-H seems good for me too because I want to continue our family business.
After reading all the comments here about Mgt-H, im beginning think I made the wrong choice of shifting. If ever I didnt manage to maintain the qpi in mgt-h, can I shift back to ME???

Is it true that MGT-H kills? I plan to slack...sorry in advance blankstare

Yes. =)) Are you an incoming freshie or an incoming sophomore?

There's always room for slacking off during first year.

HOWEVER.

When you get to second year, you get some tough subjects...

Accounting for two semesters with Venus Ibarra. It's harder than some people make you think.

Statistics with Rudy Ang

Leadership and Strategy -- you'll be doing a corporation and market research. it could get very demanding for some.

Law -- LOTS of memorization and super critical thinking.

Don't be scared of Mgt-H, though. Not to say that these classes are impossible. You just can't slack off. If you do work hard, you'll survive. Some of my friends who are still in Mgt-H have been very active in orgs (and still are) AND still get to party hard. That just proves that you can have a lot of time for things other than academics, too, even when you're in Mgt-H.

To a much lighter topic... HAHA.

SOM has a dress code, as discussed in the first page.

The no-open-toed-footwear [a.k.a. shoes only], no-sleeveless-sando and no shorts rule. [Did I miss anything? Haha]

Are .... allowed?

*Capris
*Bermudas
*3/4s

I have a fashion crisis when it comes to bottoms. :))

Hi!

If you don't reach the requirements in mgt-h (cuz of C+s or C), you can't shift back to ME. It's a big challenge, don't shy away from it! Kaya yan!:)
