Parang walang sense na ipostpone yung Orsem tas tuloy parin ang classes. Kasi naman, I mean kung big gatherings ang inaavoid nila, isn't the first day of class a bigger gathering than the Orsem? Siguro kung iddelay, idelay pareho.
hey, if they would delay the OrSem, isn't the SESQUI KickOff will be joined by more people, so kung ipush through nila yung kickoff na yun dapat ipush through na nila pati ang OrSem..
^I was wondering din. Mas malaki ang sesqui kick-off dahil pati alumni nadun eh? they'll cancel that too?
This virus and the memo created too many loopholes. Magugulo pati enrolllment at enlistment. Kawawa naman ung ibang freshmen, baka maligaw sa first day.
it doesn't make sense na may pasok pa rin sa June 15...that's just 5 days away from the planned date for the OrSem. So parang wala naman masyadong difference
Let's just wait for the official memo and follow whatever the Ateneo committee wants to happen because surely this is for the common good. Pano nga kung tinuloy ang OrSem at nagka A(H1N1) ang mga freshmen? Mas malaking problema yun.
DELAY OrSem and start classes.
BUT as much as possible I also want the OrSem to push through. Who's not excited for the OrSem anyway?

As a personal opinion, the OrSem should definitely push through. I mean, it would be weird to start classes without it. Panu naman yung iba na hindi pa familiar sa surroundings ng ateneo? I, for one, would get lost the moment I step on the atenean ground. If absolutely necessary talaga, since its safety we're dealing with here, delay the OrSem AND the classes. Para everybody happy. Haha!
Well.. push through :P First thing, kung may swine flu ka, wag ka na lang pumunta sa OrSem :| quarantine mo sarili mo sa bahay. Second, every batch had it, medyo unfair for our batch :P at awkward lahat sa start ng year :P Third, well.. ewan ko :)
Suggestion: make everyone wear masks... then everyone would be familiar with each other's eyes but their noses and mouths remain a mystery :> =)) wala lang
you deserve to have you OrSem!! Grabe super excited ako for all of you. Iba ang experience ng OrSem kung gagawin ito BEFORE the start of classes. I, for one, am very very glad na naexperience ko ang OrSem ko in THE RIGHT MOMENT AND IN THE RIGHT TIME. ANd pushing OrSem in a later date will be a very very different one :(
But if ever man na ganun talaga.... We'll make sure naman na all of you will still have the experience you deserve :) Since this is the 150th Anniversary ng Ateneo.
I guess that what we're seeing is too much paranoia by the community to H1N1. Quite frankly, there are even more deadlier diseases that are just as easily spread when compared to this flu, such as tuberculosis, malaria, dengue, cholera, typhoid, hepatitis A & B, and encephalitis. There are more cases of these diseases in the country than "swine" flu. H1N1 is an Overrated disease. The activities must push through. I am willing to take the risk of getting sick on OrSem, no matter what disease it may be. Joining the OrSem is worth it. It's a once in a lifetime activity.
Let's start a petition that would force the school officials to allow the pushing-through of our OrSem. Power to the People! Power to the Freshmen!!!!!!!!

Guys, there are already 4 confirmed cases of H1N1 as of today. Sure, the victims are recovering, but the virus is also spreading. There are a number of deaths, indicating that not everyone can recover and the virus itself isn't easy to control. The Ateneo administration is just taking more precautions to protect us.
However, postponing the orsem and not the start of classes is questionable. They're postponing large gatherings, but isn't the 1st day of school a large gathering as well since more than 500 people are coming together in 1 place? If they're postponing the OrSem, then they might as well postpone classes because if they don't, us freshies will probably be super lost in the 1st week and if we're smart enough, we would've understood most things by June28 therefore losing the purpose of the OrSem.
DELAY THE ORSEM AND THE START OF CLASSES OR ORSEM ON JUNE15-18!
on a more serious note though, if they're really going to delay the orsem, it's only logical for them to delay the start of classes as well.
and i'm not just saying that because i want a longer vacation. batong-bato na nga ako dito sa pampanga e, lahat ng mga la salle friends ko nagstart na tas ako naka kulong lang dito sa bahay. it's very tragic.Â
but they should think about it this way, delayed orsem means delayed campus tours. and i don't know about you guys, but i have a terrible memory when it comes to direction, so i'm definitely going to get lost if the first day of classes is scheduled before the orsem.
not to mention all the awkwardness that we'll be going through, you know, seeing as a lot of us haven't exactly made friends yet. i was actually planning to stalk a couple of bs lfsci kids if i get lost, but like i said, awkward.
so yes. if orsem is postponed, start of classes should be postponed as well.
^I was wondering din. Mas malaki ang sesqui kick-off dahil pati alumni nadun eh? they'll cancel that too?
This virus and the memo created too many loopholes. i agree. i'm an incoming comtech freshie. and i'm so scared about the fact that i might get lost during the first day. if the orsem willl be postponed then it Magugulo pati enrolllment at enlistment. Kawawa naman ung ibang freshmen, baka maligaw sa first day.
i agree. i'm an incoming comtech freshie and i'm terrified of the fact that i might get lost during the first day. i suggest that both the orsem and the first day should be moved such that the sched of the orsem is before the first day. i hope that happens.
I think it's kinda pointless if we have the orsem after the first day. :/ So yeah, I hope it pushes through. :/

i totally agree, if we push on with the classes and have the orsem later, wouldn't that defeat the purpose of the orsem?
With the given reason, I think it'd be better to move classes AND the OrSem, since having the OrSem after classes would defeat it's whole purpose. Alot of freshies still aren't familiar with the surroundings and the campus of AdMU. It wouldn't really look nice if we got late on our first day of classes because we got lost. :(
In my opinion, if the OrSem will be after classes, kind of, might as well not push through with it. Isn't it that one of the purposes of it is to make the students aware the places and all? By the time we get to have the OrSem after classes, what's the use of it? We just wasted the time and effort of the student faci's who will probably be really busy by that time.
*sigh*

The facis are REALLY disappointed, but they do understand what's behind it. I thought of having a catch-plan of installing more information desks and many have thought of it too, but I hope the associate dean for student affairs will get wind of that suggestion.
nwei.ya and if orsem comes later than the first day...edi naorient na ng freshies sarili nla on whats within the campus..and some thngs n kelngn nten malearn @ the orsem :| so...d na naachieve un purpose ng event..
and true..na mas maraming tao pag 1st day :| orsem=freshies and sum upperclassmen 1st day=whole student body :|

isn't it magiging awkward kung d ipupush through ang orsem or kht postponed? like you will not be familiar with your block mates on the first day and malilito ka sa lugar and kung san classes mo??? PUSH THROUGH!!!!
Pagginawang late ang orsem, parang you watch the movie before the trailer. Useless. Nalibot na buong school, then dun palang magtutour? Parang sayang sa time. My opinion, kung di gagawin ang orsem sa tamang time, wag na mag-orsem.

err~ nakakabitin naman un. me pacountdown count down pa..haha., seriously, i understand that the school is doing this for our own safety. kso, its nonesense kung OrSem lang yung ipopostpone. mas madaming nga namang tao sa sesqui kick off and even sa first day of classes.. pati sa enrollment kunan kea ng body temperature lahat ng pupunta sa orsem, tas pauwiin ung me mga lagnat???hahahaha...tas magmask gaya ng sinuggest?? nakakalito tuloy...kawawa din ung mga hindi ng o-online n freshies..
Hey guys! Who's up for a party on the 10th, kung talagang postponed na postponed na yung OrSem? :) Party then we'd go tour AdMU together, regardless of school. :)
June9 nalang kaya. There will be a lot of people in Ateneo on June9 kase - for those who'll register/pay. So it won't be a hassle for them to make double trips :D Just saying
But then if you're already good with your plan, then it's fine :)
