hindi ako Catholic though alam kong Catholic university ang ateneo.. isa akong Born Again Christian.. pero i believe hindi naman siguro makakahinder yun sa pag-aaral na gusto ko kung bakit ako nag ateneo..

question lang din po, for sure merong mga activities na pangCatholic sa school, so i was wondering kung pwedeng hindi sumali if ever? or ano nga kaya ung mga Catholic activities sa school? :D
As for Catholic activities, if you are referring to masses, most masses in Ateneo are highly encouraged, not required. Last year, we were not required to attend any mass, but were highly encouraged :D

@jrcb: I looked at the old OrSem schedule and at the end of the first day, the last activity there was a mass. If that will push through with the new OrSem and all, are we required to attend? Because I have never attended mass before and I really don't know what to do. @___@ It was part of the reminders even to not leave ahead of schedule... @____@

Hm... I guess sa theology natin, we (non-catholics? atheists? parang nagiging racists sa religion ah lolx) can just write what you stand for... Or for what the prof stands for, para mataas ang grades ^^
i was baptized as a catholic but my beliefs are taoist. i wonder what that makes me. i haven't gone to church since i was 5. my mum's not religious and my dad's protestant so go figure. when i was in hs we had values education, and all of the non-catholics had to write essays on our beliefs, etc. i wonder if it'll be the same in admu.

On attendance: Well, its part of OrSem, so, yeah. somehow, you are required. Besides, its Fr. Ben himself presiding the mass On what to do: just behave and respect what others are doing.
On Theology class: I have no idea since I'll be taking my first theo class this coming sem

i was wondering the same thing...since the Ateneo is a "Catholic and Jesuit university", diba dapat exclusive e2 for catholics?..
well, i found the answer to my question when SOSE had its Open House last march 7...my umattend dun isang freshie, whose parents are also there..and judging by the clothing of the mother, muslim cla (not to implicate something, but to illustrate my point)...
i also looked at the admission requirements...there is no "applicant must be a catholic" there...
cguro, Ateneo abides by its being a "Filipino university"...open sa lahat ng races, religions at ethnicities ng Pilipinas...and your religion will not hinder u to be the magis that you can be...
dun sa magiging theo/philo classes natin,...the teachers would most probably be jesuit priests or professors from the school of theology/humanities...unhg philo acceptable pa e ..pero theo, bka (i'm not sure) Catholic-oriented un...
ung sa Catholic activities...we are all invited to join...hindi lang naman purpose ng mga activities such as the mass e dahil Catholic obligation lang...usually when departments/schools of ADMU hear mass together, my purpose (thanksgiving, supplication, forgiveness), which is accesible and possible to all...

About Theo classes (since I've already taken 2 and about to take my 3rd): I suppose just take notes of whatever the teacher says and just answer the tests as is. Some are very objective naman e. As in, kaya i-memorize. Others, ma-essay, but mostly regarding the materials read and discussed in class. Kung gusto mo namang mag-debate with the teacher about your beliefs, I suggest you do so with a teacher who's open to it. Some kasi would rather not.
Nobody forces Catholicism on anyone. Especially Th 131, which is "Marriage, Family Life, and Human Sexuality." You'll take that in 3rd year, and it's probably the most interesting and least Catholic of all. More of conservative values in general lang yun, like "what is love?" and why abortion, pre-marital sex, and suicide is bad...
